1And it was when Solomon finished building the temple of the LORD and the house of the king and all the desire of Solomon which he desired to do.2And the LORD appeared to Solomon a second time, just as he had appeared to him at Gibeon.3And the LORD said to him, "I have heard your prayer and your supplication that you supplicated before Me. I have sanctified this house which you built to put My name there forever. And My eyes and My heart will be there all the days."4And you, if you walk before Me just as David your father walked, in integrity of heart and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, you shall keep My statutes and My judgments.5And I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever, just as I spoke to David your father, saying, "There shall not be cut off for you a man from upon the throne of Israel."6If you turn away, you and your sons, from after Me and do not keep My commandments, My statutes which I have given before you, and you go and serve other gods and bow down to them...7And I will cut off Israel from upon the face of the ground which I gave to them, and the house which I consecrated to My name I will send away from upon My face, and Israel will be for a mashal and for a byword among all the peoples.8And this house will be most high. Every passerby upon it—he will stop and whistle and say, “On account of what did the LORD do thus to this land and to this house?”9And they will say, "Because they abandoned the LORD their God, who brought their fathers out from the land of Egypt, and they strengthened themselves in other gods and bowed down to them and served them; therefore the LORD brought all this evil upon them."
